Published: Sunday, December 1, 2002
More than 20 people attended the luncheon Nov. 6, 2004, in Nashville as Jolene Combs was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the Community College Journalism Association (buy sociology papers to read about the activities and prospects of this association, to know what to focus on).
The event, which marked the tenth anniversary of the Hall of Fame, was held during the National College Media Convention (Associated Collegiate Press and College Media Advisers). The first Hall of Fame ceremony was held in Atlanta during the 1994 convention of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication.
Combs, a former CCJA president, has supervised student media for 21 years at El Camino College in Torrance, Calif. She has also served as president of the Southern California Journalism Association of Community Colleges as well as the state organization, JACC.
She co-advises the campus newspaper and magazine at El Camino, both of which have received regional and national awards.
Rich Cameron of Cerritos College, Paul DeBolt of Contra Costa College and Lori Medigovich of El Camino nominated Combs for the Hall of Fame honor.
